    Foam Extinguishing System

    Part:Marine Fire Fighting Systems
Specification:Foam Extinguishing System, fire suppression system, fire protection system ,fire security system
    Foam Extinguishing System
Foam extinguishing systems are the solution for fighting liquid fires. High-risk areas, like engine, boiler or pump rooms, are perfectly protected with high-expansion foam.Low-expansion foam distributed with monitors is a very effective extinguishant for large open areas like tanker, freight carrier and helicopter decks.
High Expansion Foam Fire Extinguishing SystemThe system is designed according to SOLAS Ch.II-2, Reg.9 and IMOMSC/Circ. 847, 9.High Expansion Foam Fire Extinguishing System
High Expansion Foam Fire Extinguishing System, type HiFoam, is approved by major Classification Societies and accepted by flag authorities for use as fire protection system for machinery spaces and pump rooms. The system has been extensively tested and complies with SOLAS IMO MSC/Circ. 668, 728 and foam testing to IMO MSC/Circ. 670. The foam concentrate also complies with requirement of European Council Directive 96/98 on Marine Equipment (MED).
Features and benefitsComply with SOLAS and approved by major classification societies (IACS) MED (Marine Equipment Directive) approved foam liquid Extensive independent testing according to IMO MSC/Circ.668 and Circ.728 and foam testing to Circ.670Expansion ratio 1:700 using internal air – eliminates needs for extensive air ducting and fans Improved filling rate of 1.9 meter per second - proven to be most effective for machinery space fires Sequential release design – optimized protection and reduce water capacity Quick release reduces fire and heat damage to equipment and structure Safe and secure for crew Minimal and easy maintenanceTechnical DesignThe system can be designed and installed both as a total flooding as well as a local system for protection of machinery spaces (such as engine room, purifier room, incinerator room) and pump rooms. The system consists of a storage tank for foam liquid at atmospheric pressure, foam pump and mixing equipment located in the foam central room. The foam concentrate is mixed with water in a proportioner or an inductor and discharged through the foam generators. The nominal working pressure is 6 bar at the foam generators. The system can use both fresh or sea water.Foam generators are installed at the highest level in the protected space and at strategically locations above high risks areas. The water/foam mixture is expanded with air in the generators. The air used for producing foam is drawn from the protected space, thus, no ducting and fans for external air is required. The foam produced by the foam generators fall directly by gravity to cover the entire protected space. The system can be remotely operated by a control cabinet located centrally with local control cabinets for operational flexibility.
